A Direct drive hose reel assembly that is compact, safer, and reduces the overall width of the Reel. This IP is unique in that the spool is supported by a single support frame integrated with the gear box and spool support hub, as one. The design is Highly customizable, able to use common parts to construct an array of reel sizes and widths. The single support member and hub arrangement makes for easily assembled/ disassembled due to, much like changing a wheel on a vehicle. The Riser can also be replaced without disturbing the spool assembly.
This IP covers the development of a compact direct drive hose reel design. This design incorporates a single cantilever support with an integrated gearbox within the spool reducing the overall width of the reel, and making disassembly/ maintenance “as easy as changing a car wheel”. The direct drive motor system utilised in this IP is far safer that sprocket and chain driven variants as it is more reliable and less prone to sparking. This patent also covers a replaceable riser allowing a single reel to be adapted to a range of hose sizes. The Marketing material for this patent perfectly captures the benefits related to the direct drive reel innovation and thus no recommendations need be made.
A chain and sprocket driven guide to consistently and efficiently lay hose onto reel during rewind without jamming.Uniquely allows independent tuning of both lateral speeds and end dwell for optimized hose wrapping. The mirrored chain and sprocket design allows for use of common parts across many variations of hose real diameters and widths. This design alleviates many of the issues with contemporary lead screw driven level winders related to inability to rewind load carrying hose and mediate dwell time.

Integration of an automatic low drag clutch mechanism into the direct-drive reel assembly. This IP allows the automatic yet simply mechanical release of the clutch when the hose is unravelled and re-engagement once the reel is no longer being unwound, thus permitting automatic rewinding. This design simplifies the unravelling process and removes issues where manual clutches were not disengaged resulting in injuries or damage to equipment. Offers smooth payout without any push-button engagement.
A Brake cartridge that slows the retraction of hose reels in order to prevent damage to hoses and reduce operator injury. The compact bolt-on design makes this IP easily installed and utilized in the Safe-R-Reel accessory for spring motor Hannay Reels. This solution is far more cost-effective and low maintenance compared to alternative methods to mediate retraction speed.
A Reel assembly that incorporates and adjustable spool width via an array of male and female sleeve butt ends. Benefits primarily in the manufacturing of different reel widths, especially advantageous for projects requiring niche or heavily constrained reel dimensions. This design enables use of parts common to a variety of reel size. This simplifies assembly and maintenance of Pit Bull Reels.
Gear assembly addition to a spring motor for a hose reel that allows a variation in the ratio of turns about the spring drive and the rotation of the spool. This IP is Indented to increase the hose capacity of a spring reel with standard spring motors. The design greatly reduces weight and space compared to contemporary spring motors by utilizing a stackable cassette arrangement. The cassette system is customizable such that the number of turns and break power can be optimized for a given role.
